On the famous Reddit board, TIFU (short for Today IF *** ed Up), a user has spilled beans inspired by the funny name of his newborn nephew.
Little Zacian’s parents have no idea his name is actually the name of an old dog with a sword in his mouth, and it looks like user Bladehuraska plans to give the new baby some Pokémon-related gifts for Christmas to “reveal the truth.” Good luck with that, friend.
Bladehuraska played Pokémon Sword in the back of a van (you know it will be a good story when you start in the back of a van) and just caught the legendary Zacian with a fast ball.
While arguing potentially unique names, I kept hearing that they wanted me to start with the letter Z … I jokingly suggested, “Hey, Zacian is a great name. It means sword in Japanese.” My mom and family loved it, so it’s official now.
Unfortunately for this man and his nephew, Zacian did no means sword in Japanese. As the comments in the post point out, Zacian is Za + cyan, just as Zamazenta, his legendary companion, is Za + magenta; you can even read director Shigeru Ohmori talking about it in this interview with GameInformer. But the real question is: who names their baby by birth with the first word that is suggested to them?
Still, there are much more unknown Pokémon, and Zacian does beautiful cool as a name. Plus, it’s a legendary Pokémon, so this will give the kid strength, right? Let us know what you Think the worst name for Pokémon would be to give a baby. The winner gets to call Nintendo Life’s next sprog.
