Update: And to top it all off, the leader of Celadon City’s Grass-type gym has just been defeated. Rainbow badge received!
Another week has passed, so what happened in the social media experiment plays out on Twitter Red Pokémon… within a talented programmer avatar? Well, keep reading!
After defeating the leader of the Cerulean City Water Misty-type gym, Twitter embarked on the SSAnne in Vermilion City and faced its former rival Blue. According to reports (via Channel of discord for this social media experiment), The Twitter match was not in the best condition to fight everyone on board and did not bother to heal before the big match. Fortunately, it was a relatively easy battle with Fearow, now known as “CHAD,” in the end, which dealt a superb blow to Blue’s Ivysaur.
Shortly after this HM01 (Cut) was acquired and a few days after the big win against Misty, Twitter was able to defeat Lt. Surge, leader of Vermilion’s Electric-type gym. Despite all odds, Twitter was able to solve the gym puzzle on the first try and did a quick job of the coaches on the main floor. In the battle against Lt Surge, Twitter launched the Rock-type Geodude. He eliminated the entire Surge game and defeated his last pocket monster, Raichu, in one fell swoop. The reward, of course, was the Thunder badge.
Since then, Twitter has gone through Diglett Cave, acquired HM05 (Flash), evolved Geodude and Oddish, made its way through the Rock Tunnel, and more recently, obtained HM02 (Fly) and obtained a free Eevee.
The current group consists of a Level 27 Fearow (CHAD), a Level 27 Graveler (ABBPRI), a Level 30 Wartortle (AMAYBE), a Level 28 Alakazam, a Level 22 Gloom (Curse) and a Level 25 Eevee (DHY) .
So, these are three badges at the time of writing: who knows what Twitter will have achieved in the game by the end of next week. Are you as impressed as we are with the progress the Internet has made so far, given that it plays within someone’s Twitter avatar?
