The entire Rangers coaching staff is part of the COVID-19 protocol and is not available for Wednesday’s game against the Flyers, the team announced.
Hartford Wolf Pack coach Kris Knoblauch, associate coach Gord Murphy, and associate general manager Chris Drury will be behind the Rangers bench on Wednesday, with Rangers head coach David Quinn and assistant coaches Jacques Martin, David Oliver and Greg Brown, not all available.
Defender Adam Fox and striker Pavel Buchnevich will return to the squad after being removed from the COVID-19 protocol list.
Being on the COVID-19 protocol list does not necessarily mean a diagnosis of the virus.
The Rangers placed Phil Di Giuseppe on the COVID-19 protocol list on Sunday, with Fox and Buchnevich on Monday, which meant all three were left out of the game in a 5-4 overtime loss to Philadelphia.
The reinstatement of Fox and Buchnevich so quickly could indicate that both recorded false positive evidence. Defender Tarmo Reunanen and striker Julien Gauthier are expected to be scratched.
