OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Baltimore Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith informed the team that he and his family were robbed Tuesday after being tracked down from Los Angeles International Airport.
“We are aware of the situation affecting Jimmy Smith,” the Ravens said in a statement. “We’ve talked to Jimmy and he and his family are safe.”
The team did not give any other details.
Spokesmen for the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department said they were unaware of the incident and had no police report. LAX police did not immediately return any ESPN phone messages.

Smith, 32, has spent his entire ten-year career at Baltimore after being a first-round pick in 2011. He signed a $ 2.5 million extension with the Ravens on Sunday. January 1.
