A total of 405,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine were donated by the Dominican government on Monday to Guatemala and Honduras for its implementation program against Covid-19, while another hundred thousand doses will also be received by the Haitian government.
The delivery of the donation, 304,000 units in Guatemala and 101,000 in Honduras, took place during an event on the north ramp of the International Airport of the Americas, led by Dominican Chancellor Roberto Alvarez.
Whereas, on behalf of the authorities of Honduras, it received the donation of the vaccine, the chancellor of that country, Lisandro Rosales, that travels until Dominican Republic, in an airplane of the Air Force of this nation,
Doses for Guatemala were received by the nation’s ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Rudy Coxaj Lope, and sent to that nation on a Copa Airlines flight.
For his part, Chancellor Alvarez stated that Haiti will receive another donation of 100,000 doses of the same vaccine, as part of President Luis Abinader’s government cooperation programs with sister countries affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
The foreign minister said the donation of vaccines to Guatemala was dispatched on Monday, while in the case of Haiti, the 100,000 doses will be sent in the next few hours, for application to the population.
“Donations of vaccines to Honduras, Guatemala and Haiti are a contribution of the Dominican people to countries that have also been severely affected by the coronavirus pandemic,” the official said.
