Dortmund, Germany
The administrative director of the Borussia Dprtmund, Hans Joachim Watzke, recommends the Norwegian striker Erling Haaland to follow the example of Robert Lewandowski and take his time to grow at the German club before making the leap to another team.
“Erling knows, just like his agent Mino Raiola, what he has in Dortmund. I can only advise him to do the same as Robert Lewandowski, that it took the time to become a world-class player “, Watzke said in statements to Kicker magazine.
“This is something that is not achieved in a year,” he added.
Lewandowski left Dortmund free, after four seasons in which he won the Bundesliga twice, to sign for Bayern.
Watzke does not believe Haaland will apply for the letter of release next summer, despite being sued by many European clubs.
“Of course someday Erling will leave us to sign for a bigger club than Dortmund and there aren’t many who can say that. If you want to go to a team like, for example, the Real Madrid must have reached the world elite before “, Said Watzke.
Haaland has a contract with Dortmund until 2024.
Watzke has repeatedly denied rumors that there is a verbal agreement that would allow Haaland to leave in 2021 if a suitable offer arrives.
The media has said that there is a termination clause, 75 million euros, which would come into force in 2022, but this is something that has never been confirmed by the club.
