After multiple reports of sightings of a strange red light in the sky in several villages on the island, meteorologist Deborah Martorell shared the explanation to the phenomenon.
He explained that the light was caused by the steam that left the launch of a NASA rocket from Wallops Flight headquarters in the state of Virginia.
This would be the reason why light was also observed in states like New York and New Jersey.
This rocket was launched by “to study particle motion in the ionosphere by emitting steam which caused the red explosion,” he explained.
A three-stage suborbital sound rocket was launched in the afternoon of March 3 for the Department of Defense from NASA’s Wallops flight facility in Virginia.
The launch consisted of studying ionization in space just beyond the reach of the Earth’s atmosphere: https://t.co/OIDGWaAOS2 pic.twitter.com/JMLYze8DVE

Residents of villages in the metropolitan area reported through social media the sighting of the red light in the sky around 6:30 pm and that it would have lasted up to several minutes before disappearing.
CONFIRMED: Strange red light observed in the sky at 7:30 pm was the product of the launch of a NASA rocket from the Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia to study the movement of particles in the ionosphere by emitting steam which caused the explosion red.Thank you @Soc_AstroCaribe pic.twitter.com/JnbFsVRzHP
