The complaint describes a particular case. It started when a 70-year-old woman was infected with Covid-19 and had to be taken to the Vila Nova Specialized National Hospital.
He stayed in this care center for a few hours and then the family was informed that it was a completed case, ie to evict the patient and recommend that she be at home for the last few days.
The day after he left the hospital and the family was looking for a doctor in particular, one person came to offer his services “with all the treatment.” The family says it would be a doctor from the hospital in Vila Nova.
“It offered a package of services with two prices. It included laboratory, medicines and medical visits.”
They considered that the medicines offered to them were those of the Specialized Hospital of Vila Nova. The cost would range from 1,500 to 5,000 quetzals.
The family hired another private doctor and the patient after two months is still recovering.
For this case there is a complaint to the Court of Honor from’ College of Physicians of Guatemala, But the court did not agree to address the issue on the grounds that it is confidential.
Respond by e-mail that only firm resolutions of public reprimand must be published and this function is the responsibility of the Board of Directors of the College of Physicians.
While Eddy Daniel Oliva, from the Social Communication department of the Vila Nova Specialized Hospital, replied that they have some information. “We are trying to verify,” he responded to Soy502’s request and explained that the procedure is done internally and with reservation of the case.
The family did not want to make the complaint to the Public Ministry for fear of reprisals, only the complaint before the Honorary Court of the College of Physicians is valid.
