MIAMI – U.S. Representative Matt Gaetz of Florida fled southern California and married his girlfriend Ginger Luckey on Saturday at a small ceremony on Catherine Island.
The controversial 39-year-old Republican, investigated as part of a sex trafficking investigation, personally announced the wedding Twitter page. He exclaimed, “I love my wife!” along with a photo of them together: him in a sports coat, she in a white dress.
Vanity Fair reports that Sergio Gor, a former member of Senator Rand Paul, performed the ceremony which was attended by about 40 people. The couple had previously announced that they would be getting married next year.
Gaetz had been in Iowa Thursday with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, speaking at a rally as part of a national tour where they falsely claimed that the 2020 election was stolen from President Donald Trump and downplayed the COVID-19 pandemic.
Luckey, 26, is from Southern California and works for a company that focuses on extending the shelf life of products made from plant materials.

Gaetz is under investigation as part of an investigation that led to the arrest and pleasure of his close friend, Joel Greenberg, a former tax collector in Seminole County, Florida.
Greenberg pleaded guilty last May to six federal offenses, including child trafficking, identity theft, harassment, bank fraud and conspiracy to bribe a public official. Their grievance agreement with prosecutors requires continued cooperation with an ongoing investigation into sex trafficking.
Gaetz, who represents much of the Florida Panhandle, was not mentioned in Greenberg’s claim agreement. But Greenberg’s cooperation could play a role in an ongoing investigation into Gaetz’s alleged sex-pay relationship with a 17-year-old. He has repeatedly denied wrongdoing.
