Republican Governor of Arkansas Asa HutchinsonAsa Hutchinson: Alabama’s new abortion law, a sign of the times Sunday shows the preview: Democrats declare victory in the COVID-19 stimulus; Vaccination efforts provide hope in summer Wrong politicians focus on abortion rather than pandemic MORE said Sunday it’s time for “heavy” coronavirus restrictions and warrants to fall by the wayside as his state prepares to lift his mask warrant in late March.
In “Face the Nation” on CBS, they present Margaret Brennan asked Hutchinson why he would decide to lift the mask’s mandate given the apparent hesitation of many of the people in Arkansas.
“Well, because we have to keep wearing a mask at a social distance until the vaccine is widely accepted, but you can do it in two ways. One is by mandate or you can do it by public common sense,” Hutchinson said. .
“I think the time in this pandemic for restrictions and heavy mandates is on the way so that people can make good judgments,” he added. “And we expect that to happen even after March 31. if the mask mandate is lifted.”

Brennan also noted that there is a higher degree of vaccination hesitation among younger Republicans, and Hutchinson acknowledges that resistance could be worrisome in his state, which has voted the Republican presidential candidate in nine of the last 12 elections.
“We’re seeing this issue and poll numbers are worrisome because Arkansas is a very favorable state for Trump in terms of the last election,” Hutchinson said. “And that’s how we see that resistance. Whenever we’re opening up the requirements for the vaccine, we’re moving very fast because we’re not required to register everyone to take it.”
Hutchinson stressed that his government would wait until the end of the month and look at the data to see if it would lift the mandate of the mask.
