Republicans are divided on a 2024 Trump race in the White House

Republicans are overwhelmingly responding to former President Donald Trump as their party leader, but are divided on whether he should be his flagship in 2024, according to a new poll released Sunday.

According to a CNN poll, Republicans and Republican-leaning independents say that from 63% to 37%, Trump should continue to be the leader of the Republican party.

When asked if Trump should pass the ballot in 2024, 51% said his presence would help Republicans reclaim the White House, but 48% said they believed the party would do better with another candidate. .

In March 2019, 78 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning pro-independence activists said the Republican Party was more likely to win the White House if Trump was the candidate in 2024 compared to 17 percent who opted for a another candidate.

Among those who believe the Republican Party has better chances with Trump, as the candidate is 53% of men, 48% of women and 53% of people of color, according to the poll.

But 51 percent of women said the party should go with another candidate.

The survey also found that 59 percent of whites without college degrees returned to Trump’s career in 2024, while only 32 percent of whites with college degrees think so.

Trump has not announced whether he will run for president in 2024, but asked directly as he visited firefighters and police at the Trump Tower on Saturday and said, “I think you’ll be very happy.”

The CNN survey was conducted between August 3 and September 7 and surveyed 2,119 adults.

It has a margin of error plus / minus 2.8 percentage points.
