Resident commissioner Jenniffer Gonzalez said in a tweet that she was outside the Federal Capitol during the development of several clashes between protesters in favor of President Donald Trump and security officials.
“I am extremely sad for what is happening today in Congress. Thank God I am well and out of the Capitol,” Gonzalez expressed via his Twitter account.

A few minutes later, the commissioner sent another tweet in which she “condemned the violent acts of the village.”
“I strongly condemn the violent acts today in Congress. The will of the people is respected, these are the values of our nation. I respect the demonstrations but never the use of violence to carry the message. It is painful to see what happens today.” , post on your Twitter account.

“Respect for the will of the people expressed in democratic processes and the peaceful transfer of power between administrations in our nation is the fundamental basis of the longest-running democracy in the history of the world,” Gonzalez added. Government institutions must be allowed to perform their constitutional functions without interruption or intimidation, as dictated by law and order, ”the commissioner added later.
Gonzalez, who identifies as a Republican, has defended several of the president’s determinations and is even actively part of the Trump campaign.
In fact, González was co-chair of the Republican group “Latinos for Trump” alongside former chairman of the Fiscal Control Board, José Carrión III.
