Capcom will host Resident Evil Showcase later this week, and fans of the horror franchise have just gone and changed their pants for the prospect of the three classic PlayStation 1 games being brought to modern consoles. All this is born a countdown to the franchise’s Twitter account, who has started scoring every day before the event with a look back at each major title. Well, all but Resident Evil 0. Thanks to some interesting differentiators between the original games and the videos that Capcom has posted on Twitter, some fans feel that we are about to get ports of the original versions of Resident Evil for PS1, Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.
So far, all posts have focused on inventory screens, and eagle-eyed Twitter users pick up on changes between games released in the 1990s and what Capcom posts on its social media channel. For example, the Resident Evil 3: Nemesis video below features a much longer inventory section, in addition to the 25th anniversary badge, at the bottom right.
Due to the way Capcom had followed the countdown to the upcoming Resident Evil Showcase, fans thought the developer might announce ports for the three classic games. Yesterday, however, they encountered a bit of a barrier, as the countdown continued with Resident Evil 4. The general line of thinking now is simply that Capcom is counting down to the digital event by looking back every release from the main line . After all, it would align properly with a Resident Evil Village revelation this Thursday. As interesting as it would be a release on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, we highly doubt that this will come to fruition.
