Resident Evil Village aims to gyroscope on PS5, but is busted

Resident Evil Village PS5 PlayStation 5 1

Sony’s new DualSense driver, like the DualShock 4, has pretty good motion sensors, but developers rarely use them. This is frustrating, because we believe so much in the gyroscopic goal: the concept of fine-tuning your features by tilting the pad. Those who have experienced this feature in, say, Gravity Rush 2 and Uncharted: Golden Abyss will know that it does not replace traditional dustbar controls; in fact, it improves them.

It should be exciting, then, for Resident Evil Village to have the gyroscopic lens on PlayStation 5, but unfortunately Capcom has busted the implementation. The option, seen in the latest demo of the game, refers to the camera mode with motion sensor. Unfortunately, this completely disables the right stick, meaning that instead of fine-tuning your photos with the DualSense, you’re actually controlling the entire camera by physically tilting the keyboard.

It is a poor implementation and curiously lacking in the PS4 version. Capcom has done a pretty good job with the gyroscopic lens in recent years: Monster Hunter Rise, for example, has good support for the feature, so we hope you can fix it before launch and find a better solution. . Still, we’re pleased to see that the publisher really supports DualSense’s motion controls, and hopefully this is the start for more lenders to pay attention.
