ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – COVID-19 vaccines are rapidly circulating in St. Louis County. Johns.
The vaccine is for health care workers and people age 65 and older and the health department distributes vaccines throughout the weekend. Now the county is helping the health department with the distribution.
On Friday night before 9pm, people were already waiting in line to get the vaccine on Saturday morning.
“I decided I would come today,” Joan Tischer said. “I do not want to be the last person to die in Covid. It’s just important. “
There were several cars on the street outside the health department Friday night and some people even drove their vehicles off-road.
Officials say 340 people received the vaccine in St. Louis County. Johns on Friday and those who lined up Friday night said they wanted to make sure they got theirs too.
Tischer said he arrived Friday at 6 p.m. and will be the first person in line to receive the vaccine Saturday morning.
“It’s not as bad to wait here as to spend a night in the ICU,” Tischer said.
Amal Soni helped her parents set up their RV on the line.
“They are both over 65 years old. There are many people in the home at high risk. My wife has diabetes, so we wanted to make sure they were safe, ”Soni said.
Earlier in the day, long lines of cars waited outside the health department for the second day in a row. Health officials said the day’s supply of COVID-19 vaccines had disappeared in 2 and a half hours.
Licensed clinical social worker Ambria Page says she received the vaccine after waiting seven hours.
