Robber holds the television journalist and crew while filming in Ecuador

A television journalist and his crew were robbed while filming in Ecuador; with their images they captured the shocking moment that the armed thief aimed directly at them with a pistol.

Football reporter Diego Ordinola shared video of the emaciated pistol launcher that jumped on Friday afternoon while the DirecTV Sports team was filming outside the Tarqui Monumental Stadium, Guayaquil.

“Phone!” called the armed thief, pointing a gun directly at Ordinola and sliding the microphone he was using.

The thief, who was wearing a shirt and cap with his face covered by a mask, raised his weapon at the camera operator, before grabbing someone’s phone just to the right of the shot.

The DirecTV Sports camera shot throughout the robbery, and as they followed him after a pause, he was filmed being kicked out of the back of a motorcycle.

“We can’t even work in peace,” Ordinola wrote sharing the clip, saying police had “promised to find these criminals.”

His place was flooded with good wishes, as well as several people who used the images to identify a possible license plate number of the motorcycle used for the escape. It was not immediately known if there had been any arrests or if there were any known suspects.

In a tracking message Thanking his followers for his “messages of solidarity,” Ordinola wrote, “Let us unite to eradicate crime in Ecuador.”
