FLORHAM PARK, NJ – The New York Jets, who finished one of the worst campaigns in franchise history, reached an agreement in principle with Robert Saleh to become the new coach of the franchise, the club announced .
Salt, 41, who worked until last season as the San Francisco 49ers ’defensive coordinator, was virtually interviewed last Friday with the Jets and quickly established himself as the top contender. On Tuesday, he flew to New Jersey for a second interview.
Saleh¡, who received interview requests from six of the seven teams that were left without a head coach at the end of the 2020 regular season, replaces Adam Gase, who finished 9-23 and went be fired immediately after the conclusion of the regular campaign.
