The Jets have finished their first finalist.
The team will incorporate Robert Saleh, 49ers defensive coordinator for a second interview on Tuesday, according to the NFL Network. The Jets spoke virtually to Saleh on Friday. Now, he will meet with Jets Brass in person at Florham Park as the team narrows the search.
The Jets are known to have interviewed nine candidates so far. They are now entering the next phase, where they will incorporate a few finalists for face-to-face meetings. They can’t do face-to-face interviews with anyone still in the playoffs: Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, Rams defensive coordinator Brandon Staley, Saints side coach Aaron Glenn, and Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy are candidates to play this weekend.
Saleh, 41, is a popular coach in this hiring cycle. He has interviewed the Lions, Jaguars, Falcons and Chargers in addition to the Jets. Some consider him one of the top candidates in Detroit.
