Roger Martínez statements current affairs in America from Mexico and influence of Solari | Colombians Abroad

After living a real hell from football, Roger Martínez has begun to regain his best level. The Colombian American striker of Mexican football confessed that the Argentine Santiago Solari, coach of the team, has been key in his football rise because it gives him opportunities that he did not have before.

“When a coaching staff is changed there are opportunities for all the players, the internal competition rises from training to matches and that is what this club needs, a lot of demand,” he explained at a press conference.

Martinez, who played in the 2016 and 2019 America’s Cups with his country, signed for America in 2018 from Villarreal, but in 2019 he stated that his intention was to leave Mexico, a situation that to marginalize of the alignments of Miguel Herrera, previous strategist of the Eagles.

Since the arrival of Solari in the current Clausura 2021, Martínez went from being on sale to being one of the team’s top scorers to scoring two goals in 268 minutes. “I devoted myself to working and striving, giving my best in training, I knew they were going to give me the opportunity,” the Cartagena player added.

The 26-year-old striker said he currently has no plans to leave America for Europe as his goal is to settle in the Eagles, the team with the most league titles in Mexico with 13.

“I don’t have my head in Europe. I never said I wanted to go because I was bad, it’s the biggest club in Mexico and one in America, any footballer would want to be here, I have my head here to help my teammates and team, let the fans be happy, my boss is here, ”he exposed.
