The final day of the 2020-21 NFL season left us with endless conclusions, some good and some not so good, about what’s coming up in the playoffs and next tournament for the unclassified teams.
From the inexplicable decisions of Eagles coach Doug Pederson to the elimination of the “Team of America,” the Cowboys, among other topics, we’ve collected the best and worst of Week 17.
1. Josh Allen became the quarterback with the most yards in the air in a season in Bills history. No one is playing better than Buffalo right now in the entire NFL. Not even the Chiefs. #nflxespn
2. Beyond q the balance is positive, it was a disappointing performance from Miami in a defining game. I wouldn’t pick another QB in the 1st round of the draft. Yes, it would be surrounded by more ‘playmakers’, and if Tagovailoa does not perform next year, alternatives are being considered. I would change OC #nflxespn
3. The fact that the Patriots have won seven games with this roster speaks volumes about what Bill Belichick is as head coach. Personally, I think they will add QB via change. Both Matthew Stafford and Carson Wentz would make sense for New England. #nflxespn
4. The very long season of the Jets is over, and the very bad passage of Adam Gase for the franchise. The good thing is that with this second pick, they can pick Justin Fields, Zach Wilson or switch down for several picks, which is what I would do. #nflxespn
5. The Ravens ran for 404 yards (3 from the record) and Lamar Jackson became the first quarterback in history to have two seasons of at least 1000 yards on the ground. I still don’t trust Baltimore as a candidate, but at least they rediscovered their identity. #nflxespn
6. Reports continue to indicate that Joe Burrow should be ready for the start of the season. The Bengals now have to invest most of their resources on the offensive line, and then add some pieces to their defense. #nflxespn
7. The Cleveland Browns qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2002. They had to suffer more from the count, but the long streaks are both a mental and physical stumbling block. Credit to Kevin Stefanski, who should be Coach of the Year, for changing his culture. #nflxespn
8. The Steelers decided to rest a few headlines, including Big Ben, and will now face off against the Browns again next week. If they want to succeed in this postseason, they will have to find a way to run the situation effectively. #nflxespn
9. The ‘Bucs’ finished the season with four wins in a row, and although it was against minor rivals, the offense looked really good in the face of their duel against Washington, which has a great defense. Mike Evans ’injury, however, overshadows the whole picture. #nflxespn
10. The Falcons are already intensifying the search for a new coach, while they are past their salary cap. It’s not an easy situation, but I would think signing Keanu Neal and Younghoe Koo would be a priority. Will Matt Ryan follow? I think so, although they may be restructured. #nflxespn
11. Justin Jefferson surpassed the air yard record for a rookie receiver, and if not for Justin Herbert, he would probably be named Offensive Rookie of the Year. I still think that with Kirk Cousins they are not going anywhere, but they have to strengthen this defense. #nflxespn
12. The win wasn’t enough for the Giants, but I like the direction the franchise is leading, and it’s a good sign that Daniel Jones played a good game when there was so much at stake. Evan Engram already worries me after finishing the season with eight passes dropped. #nflxespn
13. The Cowboys have already ratified Mike McCarthy in his place for next season. The last game, full of bad decisions by the head coach, encapsulated the bad campaign he had. Many injuries, terrible defense and very bad year of Ezekiel Elliott. #nflxespn
14. The Titans were crowned AFC South champions. Derrick Henry became just the eighth player in history to exceed 2000 yards on the ground. Tennessee is barely second in history in qualifying for the playoffs despite recording less than 20 catches. #nflxespn
15. DeShaun Watson is the reason the Texans ’work will be appealing, but imagine how bad the rest of them lost 12 games. They are past the salary cap and have no first or second round selections. #nflxespn

16. After a slow start Jonathan Taylor finished the campaign phenomenally, including the 253 yards to give way to the Colts playoffs. I love the defense, but again they suffered gaps being up 20-0. It’s up to them to dance ‘with the ugliest’ in Buffalo. #nflxespn
17. Speaking of attractive vacancies, you can be worse off than with quarterback Trevor Lawrence, 10 other draft picks, more than 60 million salary caps and little pressure to win in the short term. Oh, there’s no state tax in Florida either. #nflxespn
18. The Rams have qualified for the postseason, where they will face the Seahawks for the third time this year. Lots of credit for the defense, but more than anything for John Wolford. It’s not easy to make your first opening with so much at stake, and be up to it. #nflxespn
19. Frustrating season for the Cardinals. When Kyler Murray got hurt and didn’t have the same mobility, Arizona’s level dropped dramatically. They’ve lost five of the last seven games, and Kliff Kingsbury has a lot to improve on as the team’s coach. #nflxespn
20. No one has allowed fewer points than the Seahawks ’defense since Week 11. It’s amazing how they’ve transformed a weakness into a strength. Now is the time for the offensive to resume the way it started the season to become a true candidate. #nflxespn

21. Hard to judge the 49ers season with so many major injuries. But I think St. Francis will do his best to look for a better option than Jimmy Garoppolo as quarterback. Rookie Zach Wilson and Matthew Stafford would be interesting options. #nflxespn
22. The Saints became the first team in history to sweep the NFC South (6-0). Drew Brees started to look much better in the last two weeks, and the defense recorded 5 interceptions. Now they are waiting for Alvin Kamara, Michael Thomas and Marcus Williams. #nflxespn
23. After a promising start, the Panthers fell like a piano. While I understand that Christian McCaffrey, who has been injured most of the year, is changing the dynamics of the offense, the questions about Teddy Bridgewater are legitimate. I do not rule out q choose QB to draft #nflxespn
24. Despite losing to the Packers, the Bears received the necessary help from the Rams and slipped into the playoffs. Matt Nagy hasn’t impressed me in Chicago, but he’s qualified for the playoffs in two of three years. Trubisky continues to play the place. Roquan Smith’s injury worries. #nflxespn
25. There’s no better offense than Green Bay in the NFC, and Aaron Rodgers deserves the MVP. Rodgers won a single NFC championship in four attempts, but this will potentially be his first at Lambeau Field. The offensive line was fine without David Bakhtiari on Sunday. #nflxespn
26. If it was Matthew Stafford’s last game in Detroit, I’ll say he’s a gladiator and any team would be lucky to have him. Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones are going to be free agents in the open receiver position. The Lions need a facelift. #nflxespn
27. It must be one of the most hopeful low seasons in recent times for the Chargers. A franchise QB, and a young defensive core that frightens: Joey Bosa, Melvin Ingram, Chris Harris, Casey Hayward and Derwin James. They are better than 7-9. #nflxespn
28. I question the Chiefs ’decision to rest their starters when they don’t play next week. History tells us that resting shellfish usually start to rust. Health is the most important thing, but we’ll see how the Chiefs respond in a couple of weeks. #nflxespn
29. The Raiders did everything to lose (4 losses and 14 penalties for 111 yards), and won. I’m on the boat of those who think Jon Gruden is more marketing than substance. Darren Waller is the pure truth. #nflxespn
30. It is the fifth year in a row that the Broncos have played virtually nothing in their last regular season game. In Denver they seem to think q Drew Lock is the right one to get them out of this apathy, but there are more free agency options / q changes in recent years. #nflxespn
31. Washington won first divisional title since 2015. They started 1-5, but ended up winning 5 of the last 7. Interestingly, the last time a team reached the playoffs with a negative record was with Ron Rivera in 2014. 6 games ago q defense does not allow more than 20 points. #nflxespn
32. Let’s just say it was curious the handling of Eagles coach Doug Pederson, who insists he was “training to win”. He has ventured into fourth attempts all year, but placing Nate Südfeld shocked me. #nflxespn
