The next Apple Watch Series 7 will come in larger 41mm and 45mm case sizes, which will replace the current 40mm and 44m options offered from the Apple Watch Series 4, according to a leaker from the popular Chinese platform Weibo.
The account that shares the information is run by UnclePan, which in the past has shared information about Apple’s plans. According to a message posted this week, the upcoming 7 series will be offered in 41 and 45 mm box sizes.
Until the Apple Watch Series 4, Apple had offered case sizes of 38 and 42 mm. With the 2018 4 Series, which included a larger screen, the box sizes were increased with options of 40mm and 44mm, replacing the previous sizes. A characteristic feature of the Apple Watch that each generation has generated has been compatibility with older Apple watch bands.
Since the 4 series, all Apple Watch bands have been compatible with each generation with the same case size. According to the leaker, this will be the case for the Apple Watch Series 7, which will allow bands designed for 40mm and 44mm Apple watches to work with the newer 41mm and 45mm sizes.
The increase in the size of the case is not entirely surprising, as the next Apple Watch is expected to include smaller bezels and a flat-edged design, allowing for a larger screen area.
According to Jon Prosser, Apple’s leaker, beyond an updated flat-cut design with a larger screen, the Apple Watch Series 7 will be offered in a new green housing color. Prosser, in early May, shared versions of what could be the next Apple Watch.
The Apple Watch Series 7 is expected to be announced alongside the iPhone 13 at an Apple digital event next month. In the coming months, other new products we look forward to include new iPads, updated AirPods, a high-end Mac mini and redesigned MacBook Pros.
