Next month marks the third year of the Switch Online service and it looks like there is debate once again about whether Nintendo can bolster its payment service with additional retro content. In the latest podcast of “Nate the Hate,” well-known internal character “NateDrake” talks about how Nintendo could add Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles in the coming weeks.
It all comes from one datamine dating from 2019 – which revealed four emulators in Nintendo’s NES app. While the purpose of the remaining emulators has yet to be revealed, both Nate and his “MVG” co-host believe the third “Hiyoko” is likely to be made with the “Game Boy and Game Boy Color” titles.
Nintendo Life has also confirmed with its own sources that Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles are likely to arrive on the Switch Online service “soon.”
The insider himself is far less optimistic about Game Boy Advance titles coming to the online paid service in the near future, and notes how several companies are currently working on reissues, including Nintendo, which has Advance Wars remaster coming out this December. We haven’t heard anything about the Game Boy Advance titles included in this update either.
