Just 24 hours ago, us reported on a decision Runescape Jagex developers blocked the release of a major mod a few hours before it was released.. This decision provoked protests among the community so severe that they spread within the game.

Following these protests, Jagex has quickly reversed course. In a statement posted on the game’s official site, the developers now to say:

Yesterday we set out to clarify our stance regarding third-party HD clients and other projects that attempt to radically change the visual aspect of the game.

We hear your comments loud and clear and have been discussing these comments throughout the day, and as the discussions continue, we intend to act on them.

Our conversations today have also included 117Scape and Adam from RuneLite and we are actively exploring options on how we can work together to offer the 117Scape connector as a bridge until our own version is ready for release.

This last idea, with Runelite HD acting as a “bridge” between the present and the Jagex HD release sometime in the future, it was really created by HD by Runelite creator 117 just yesterday, when they said Jagex had “has directly rejected ”the same offer. Amazing what can do a little community pressure.

Of course, this is 2021 on the Internet and not all the pressure from the community he was a civilian, with that of Jagex statement adding:

We fully understand that you all have a voice in Old School and that sometimes that voice can be frustrating for the decisions we make. Rest assured that we always receive your feedback, whether it is good or bad. We don’t always do it right, we’re just human and now we’re rectifying our approach.

That said, we have sadly seen unacceptable levels of abuse of staff members on social media in the last 24 hours, which we will not tolerate. This team is full of passionate people. Try to remember that behind the crowns are real people trying to do their best for the game and its community.
