Russ Martin, North Texas Radio Personality, Dead at Frisco’s Home – CBS Dallas / Fort Worth

FRISCO, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) – Russ Martin, a well-known radio personality in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, was found dead at his Frisco home early Saturday morning, police said.

Police said he responded at his home on Douglas Avenue after a friend of his went to pick him up and found him unanswered.

Martin was pronounced dead at his home. A cause of death has not yet been released.

At this point, police said they did not suspect a dirty game.

Martin hosted the popular Russ Martin show at KEGL in the DFW area. He also founded the Russ Martin Show Listeners Foundation, which helps families of fallen agents and firefighters.

During a tribute to KEGL on Saturday afternoon, co-host Dan O’Malley said one of the last things Martin did was sign a check from the foundation for $ 40,000 for the widow of the agent of Dallas Mitchell Penton, who was killed by an alleged intoxicated driver earlier this month.

The Ben & Skin Show, which airs before the Russ Martin Show on weekdays, issued a statement saying:

“We are saddened by the passage of radio legend Russ Martin. Russ was for many years a fun, beloved and older than radio life at DFW. When he didn’t make us laugh, he showed a huge heart by working tirelessly in our community to support first responders and their families when they needed it most. We were lucky enough to work alongside one of the most influential radio hosts in DFW history. Our deepest condolences are sent to his family and friends, as well as to his co-hosts and thousands of fiercely loyal RMS listeners. ”

The Fort Worth Association of Police Officers offered its condolences for their work with law enforcement.

“Rest in peace, @RussMartinShow. We will always remember his generosity and support for fallen police officers and their families. Many prayers for his family and colleagues at @theeagledallas, ”the association said in a tweet.

The Dallas police department also lamented the loss of the radio driver.
