Sam Darnold, quarterback of the New York Jets, has been released as a possible solution to the problems of the Chicago Bears quarterbacks. But, after recent reports, maybe not in the way many expected.

According to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, the connection between Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll and Darnold could turn out to be an interesting development at Russell Wilson’s commercial rumor mill.

Carroll is said to have “a great opinion” of Darnold, and the Seahawks could end up negotiating for him if they decide on Wilson, say, a Bears team too desperate to run out of options for the quarterback.

“Watch Seattle for Darnold,” a source said New York Daily News.

Tensions have reportedly spread between Wilson and Carroll, prompting trade speculation. He has since warmed up with the Bears, a team desperate for a franchised quarterback, who would have thrown everything they have at the Seahawks trying to land Wilson.

The only thing that could stop Seattle from pulling the trigger and changing its franchise quarterback is the lack of a quarterback in return. Darnold could end up being the solution, mostly because he’s a person Carroll cares about.

“I think he has a lot of talent without a doubt,” Carroll told reporters about Darnold in December. “It simply came to our notice then. He is a true quarterback. He sees things. He makes great plays and great shots in difficult situations because of his talent. It’s just a matter of time. Sam will be a very important QB. He has thrown a lot of balls in three years. He has had a lot of experience. In the long run it will bear fruit ”.

We’ll see if that affects Seattle’s plans to swap Wilson, potentially in Chicago, where things could heat up without the Bears running out of quarterback options this offseason.
