San Francisco 49ers injury updates after winning against Chargers

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan expressed some concern about the state of defender Maurice Hurst and defender Mychal Kendricks after they both left Sunday night’s game against the Chargers and did not return.

Hurst and Kendricks were classified as questionable to return after leaving the game early. Hurst is suffering from an ankle injury, while Kendricks has a problem with his toes. Shanahan said the fact that neither player returned to the game was an indication that the injuries could be more serious.

Hurst contests a place on a deep defensive list. At the beginning of the game, he had a good push towards the middle in a pass. Hust left the game after playing only four defensive snapshots.

Kendricks, a nine-year veteran, was signed after the first preseason game and could be in the mix to become on the final roster as the team’s most experienced defender. He was injured after playing only one special team – his first play of the year with his new team.

Matt Maiocco of the NBC Sports Bay Area also noted that offensive lineman Senio Kelemete, who came out late from Sunday’s game, is suffering a back injury. Kelemete saw 36 guard plays before his injury. Defensive back Alexander Myres suffered a concussion in the contest. He saw 18 snapshots on defense and another 14 on special teams before his concussion forced him to leave.

Shanahan is expected to have news about the injured players on Monday afternoon when he talks to reporters.
