Saturday colder than average with up to 3 inches of snow possible

DETROIT – Welcome to Saturday, Motown.

The snow returns first this weekend. It’s getting a little sunny again, Sunday. It will be much colder than average throughout the weekend. There is more snow accumulated in the forecasts early next week with a major storm on the east coast.

It will be very cold on Saturday morning and snow will arrive a few hours before dawn. Showers and light snow begin around 4 a.m. as low morning temperatures begin in low- and middle-aged teens. Wind chills will be single digits and close to zero.

The snow will spread as it continues to fall at breakfast time and around lunch time. Sometimes it will be mild to moderate. Temperatures remain well below frost; to higher adolescents. Mild accumulations, up to an inch or more, will be common throughout the region. Snowflakes will adhere to sidewalks and streets.

Last-minute Valentine’s Day shoppers will need an early start to finish finding letters and gifts soon to avoid further build-up, but don’t rush. Ramps, bridges and overpasses will be, above all, complicated but not impossible to navigate. Be careful walking too, because we don’t want any slipping.

Saturday afternoon will be cold and snowy at times. The falling and blowing snow will make it hard to see. Therefore, observe speed and spacing while driving. Stay alert for pedestrians and salt trucks as well at a wide berth. Another inch is possible in the afternoon.

The total snowfall today will generally be 1 to 2 inches, with some areas along I-94 and south of the M-59 receiving up to 3 inches by the end of this evening. .

Snow showers dissipate in the evening. We still have to dress in layers with temperatures returning to the teens.

Saturday night will be mostly partly cloudy and cold. Night lows will be shown in single digits with wind chills close to or below zero.

Please continue to practice your saving habits. Do not use stoves or ovens to keep warm. Keep all heaters away from anything flammable.

Happy Valentine’s Day, Sunday. It’s a great day to hang out with your friend or spend time with family. It will be partly sunny and cold. Afternoon temperatures will be down from the 1920s; ten to fifteen degrees below the maximum averages.

Brief showers of snow return, Sunday night and Presidents’ Day, Monday. You can make an inch of snow on Monday with snow falling mostly in the morning. Daytime temperatures will be in middle and upper adolescence. Another day to dress in layers if you go sledding or doing something else outdoors.

A large separate storm that will traverse the Appalachians will be large enough to carry more snow, Monday night and Tuesday. More than an inch of snow is possible, but it is too early to know what the exact accumulations will be. That said, don’t be surprised to grab snow shovels again on Tuesday evenings or Wednesdays. Tuesday’s highs will be close to 20 degrees.
