However, cast member Alex Moffat took on the role of Biden on Saturday night, debuting in the show’s open cold.
He had Beck Bennett, a cast member, as Vice President Pence who received the coronavirus vaccine Friday at the White House.
“I’m sure all Americans are excited to see me, the guy who let COVID spread everywhere, get one of the first shots,” Bennett said as Pence.
“I won more votes,” he replied.
Then came Biden de Moffat, who wore a walking boot and had a cane. Bennett’s Pence told him he “looked different.”
“I’m like Colonel Sanders. Every time you see me, I’m a different guy,” Moffat said as he played Biden. “This time next year, I’ll be Mario López … Now, where are the vaccines?”
In a tweet last Saturday, Carrey announced that he would no longer play Biden in the weekly sketch comedy series.
