The video of the incident was posted, showing the adult facing the student social media September 5th. It is not clear if the person is a teacher.

In the video, the student asks, “Are you playing?” The staff responds, “No, I’m not! Otherwise, I will call the police. I’m serious! ”Later, the staff member threatens the student with the suspension and calls him“ a piece of s ”.

After the video went viral, school principal John Mensik sent a letter to parents saying the incident was being investigated and that it would be treated “in the right way.”

Illinois Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker issued an interior mask warrant in late August for schools across the state and the state superintendent sent a letter threatening the repercussions for institutions that they did not fulfill the mandate, Mensik noted.

“The letter also said that schools that did not follow the mask’s mandate would be unrecognizable to the Illinois State Board of Education, meaning students could lose scholarship money, not be able to compete in programs. IHSA sports and that schools could penalize students for not having an accredited high school diploma, ”Mensik wrote.
