SEATTLE – Seattle Seahawks are expected to move from initial defensive attack Jarran Reed through an operation or release, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Reed said his apparent goodbye to the Seahawks on Thursday, writing on Twitter:
It’s been real 12s💙✌🏿 tomorrow at 1 is official … in the next chapter

Reed, 28, has one year and $ 8.5 million left in his contract, which will feature $ 13.5 million against the limit. The Seahawks would save $ 8.5 million against the limit by trading or releasing Reed while incurring $ 5 million dead.
The Seahawks need to clear the limit space so that they meet the limit once it has been agreed to formalize the recent offers. They only have three picks in next month’s draft (a second, a fourth and a seventh round) after swapping a fifth-round pick against the Las Vegas Raiders for guard Gabe Jackson.
A second-round pick in 2016 in Alabama, Reed was known primarily as a runner for his first two seasons, but then exploded by 10.5 sacks in 2018. The 2019 season began with a six-game suspension for rape the NFL policy of personal conduct and ended the year with two sacks in 10 games.
The Seahawks gave Reed a two-year, $ 23 million contract last March, betting he could regain his 2018 form. He had a rebounding season with 6.5 sacks in 16 games.
The Seahawks re-signed Poona Ford with a two-year deal at the start of the free agency. Ford has started the last two seasons alongside Reed. Seattle also has Bryan Mone, Cedrick Lattimore and Myles Adams as real defensive attacks on their roster.
