A foreign national reported that after traveling to Popayán to meet a woman he met on the internet two years ago he was the victim of an extortion detention.

The native citizen of Texas, United States and identified as Daniel Originals, has explained that when he arrived in this capital the woman realizing that his credit cards had no funds, he decided to lock him up in the company of other men with padlocks inside the house, demanding a sum of cash, to set him free.
When he left the padlocks open, the man decided to escape, coming across a security guard who contacted him with a councilor. The escape occurred this Thursday morning.

“A friend who is vigilant tells me that there is a lost foreign citizen. We send the citizen to the Council. The gentleman, desperate, states that he has been detained, that he came to a love date. and that unfortunately things did not go well for him and that for his release he had to pay 1800 dollars “, explains the payanés councilman, Julián Ausecha Ordoñez.
However, the Popayán Police Commander, Colonel Boris Albor, noted that it is not an extortion withholding, but a debt of that person for the stay in that residence.

The call of the American citizen is that some contact at the American embassy will allow him to return to his country.
