John Calipari is unhappy with his team’s performance, specifically how his team yielded to the game in the loss to Georgia, the third straight defeat in the conference. When asked to explain what he says to the team to avoid further discouragement after such a gruesome loss, Calipari applauded again, “I need someone to talk to me because I’m discouraged“.
“What did I just see? How did we end the game? The selection of shots at the end? Free throws, ball losses, do they just throw the ball to them for dispositions? We gave them 20 points for the business losses that threw them the ball. I’m discouraged“.
Calipari also said the UK guard game was “horrible” and the defense was bad and they couldn’t win 50/50 balls, before pointing the finger at himself to find the solution.
“Right now my frustration can be explained, but I am the coach of the team and I have a job to do and we have to figure out how we will win the matches,” he said.
Part of getting things moving in the right direction is finding guys you can constantly trust, and right now that’s a problem. You want to play six or seven guys, he says, “the problem is, who would they be?”
