Santo Domingo, RD.
The Senate of the Republic approved on Tuesday the appointment of Fidel Santana as ambassador of the Dominican Republic to Uruguay.
President Luis Abinader appointed Fidel Santana, on August 13, through decree 509-21, as ambassador to Uruguay.
“Fidel Ernesto Santana Mejía is appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Penitentiary of the Dominican Republic to the Eastern Republic of Uruguay,” the decree says in its article 1.
Last Thursday in the Senate he referred to the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation the nomination for his study.
In October last year, Fidel Santana announced that he was resigning from the Broad Front Party where he had served until reaching the presidency, “to seek other horizons and reconnect with his logic of service to the community and the people. “.
Months later he reported his aspirations to the Ombudsman’s Office, which generated a great deal of debate for his political militancy, which may have made the senators not choose him for this position.
