Female tennis icon Serena Williams was interviewed at The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and described Australia’s strict quarantine as “crazy and super intense” but unreservedly supportive.
Williams, 39, is close to finishing the 14-day confinement and jumping on the track to face Naomi Osaka in an exhibition match in Adelaide on Friday.
“Australia, for the last time I heard, zero cases of VOCID. So that’s amazing. It’s really amazing,” he expressed before the first consultation.
Williams has been living in an Adelaide hotel with her three-year-old daughter Olympia. “It’s definitely hard to live with a three-year-old girl every day at all hours but it’s worth it because you want everyone to be safe at the end of the day.”
The American hopes to match Australian Margaret Court’s record of 24 Grand Slam titles with another victory in Melbourne. That’s all he expects at the end of his forties. It’s all he dreams of.
