Almost exactly a month after Seth Meyers used his “A Closer Look” segment to make fun of Rudy Giuliani for joining Cameo in what was apparently a desperate bet for cash. Well into the night the host returned to one of his all-time favorite targets Monday night to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks.
As Meyers said, the Republican Party’s latest transformation is “perhaps the best embodied” by Giuliani, who went from “mayor of America” after 9/11 to “essentially a great man from New York who stays with Eastern European mobsters. “
On Saturday night, Giuliani hosted his annual dinner to commemorate the attacks in New York City. The couple was once “gloomy,” but this year, followed by “incoherent” distractions that included an impression of Queen Elizabeth and an unforeseen denial that she spent time with the unfortunate Prince Andrew.
“I’m not saying Rudy was drunk,” Meyers said after touching on some highlights of the speech. “But it’s usually when the Brooklyn boys start trying to imitate the Queen of England.”
“And by the way, to put it bluntly,” Meyers added, “Rudy would like everyone who’s definitely not drunk.” And he let everyone know in a very uncharacteristic way for drunken boys, giving a series of long and divergent answers in which he repeated himself and made no sense.
Giuliani said al Daily mail“Yeah, of course, I started a Scotsman at the beginning of dinner. Beyond that, I didn’t have any, I was watered down. I’m not even sure I’m drinking all the damn,” he added, “I like to drink Scottish and have “It probably comes from here. I take moderate amounts of Scotch. I take mostly Scotch because I like to take it with cigars. I didn’t have a cigarette last night.”
Meyers, in turn, told Giuliani: “It would probably be better if you were drunk. At least your behavior would make sense. “
