DETROIT – It has been a beautiful day for the worker. You can’t ask for much better in terms of most days off, nor to start Rosh Hashanah this evening. If you are celebrating the holiday, I wish you a hearty Shanah Tovah Tikateivu!
The skies during the night will remain almost clear and it will be a good time to sleep, with night lows in the mid-fifties (10 to 13 degrees Celsius), with mostly calm air.
The sunset this evening is at 19:58 and the sunrise on Tuesday morning at 7:05
Metro Detroit Weather Update: September 6, 2021 in the afternoon, forecast in the evening
On Tuesday I had the bullseye on my weather calendar since late last week. The day will start pretty innocent, with mostly sunny skies and comfortable humidity. However, the rising southwest wind, with gusts of 30 mph in the afternoon, will shoot up our temperatures to the 70s (24 to 26 degrees Celsius) at noon and to the mid-80s (30 degrees Celsius) to a maximum afternoon. The daylight hours should remain dry for most of us … the only chance of a storm would be in the northern half of Sanilac County in the afternoon, but even that may not happen.
Announcements
However, a cold front approaching with a sufficient amount of dynamic and thermodynamic support will generate a line of severe storms north of the lower peninsula on Tuesday afternoon and this line will progress to southeast Michigan during the hours of the evening. All are possible harmful gusts of wind, heavy hail, torrential rains and even a tornado or two. Be sure to keep the devices charged on Tuesday in case the power goes out, and it would also be a good time to make sure the weather radio has new batteries.
If you watch Local 4 News at 11pm on Sunday night, remember my explanation of storms at their worst when it’s warmer, and this justification is not only still valid today, but should have important implications. as to who is most at risk. At this point, I think the areas north and west of a line from Port Huron to Southfield to Adrian have the best chance for an episode of severe storms, with those storms starting to weaken as they head southeast of this line. However, we all run the risk of suffering severe storms on Tuesday evening, so stay tuned for the weather.

We will keep you updated here on ClickOnDetroit.com, Local 4 and the free Local4Casters app. Brandon Roux will have new high-resolution computer model data to work on Tuesday morning … I strongly urge you to check with him when you get up to get the latest data. And if you’re one of the few who doesn’t have our app yet, I strongly urge you to download it now by searching for WDIV in the app store … right there. If you are in the basement and the power is turned off, your mobile phone is the only connection you have with the outside world … and our app has real-time radar and, if you have notifications enabled, even everything sends you alerts when dangerous weather is approaching (not to mention the warnings themselves). Remember that the best weather app in the country is free.
Storms should leave the area around midnight and the rest of Tuesday night should be fairly calm with clarity and lows in the low 60s (16 degrees Celsius).
Announcements
Mostly sunny to partly cloudy, both Wednesday and Thursday, with highs in the mid-70s (23 to 25 degrees Celsius). There is a chance of some afternoon showers on both days, but most of us will stay dry rather than wet. Wednesday will be windy and Thursday will be less windy.
Mostly sunny on Friday … a splendid day to end the work week … with highs in the 70s (26 degrees Celsius).
Weekend Outlook
Saturday has been a thorn in my side for a few days now, as computer models differ greatly depending on the evolving weather pattern. Some models keep us dry, while others generate showers in the afternoon. I still don’t have enough confidence to call you … I’m sorry, but I have to be honest with you.
Obviously, I still have several days to get better. Right now, Sunday seems dry, but again I have less confidence than normal. Highs appear to reach lows of 80 (27 to 28 degrees Celsius), with overnight lows in the 1950s above 60 lows (14 to 16 degrees Celsius).
