The great NBA Shaquille O’Neal was recently at a jewelry store in the Atlanta area and ended up buying an engagement ring, but it wasn’t like proposing it to anyone. The former Laker saw a man buying a ring and offered to buy it.
The gesture was captured on camera and the video quickly went viral. Shaq is cunningly seen taking out his credit card and handing it to the store clerk while the stranger prepares to pay. The two shook hands and started taking a picture afterwards.
The basketball star turned sports commentator spoke about the gift during the NBA replay Tuesday night on TNT. “That happened yesterday. I was in Zales looking for new earrings and I saw a boy,” Shaq told his hosts.
After some jokes about the fact that the famous celebrity is still going to buy himself, Shaq explained to his co-hosts what happened next. “I saw the boy, he was very shy. He would say to me, ‘Hey, how much do I have to pay to pay for the ring.’
It was then that Shaq stepped in and offered to cover him.
“That’s something I do every day,” Shaq said, adding that he and his mother recently bought furniture and offered to pay for a mother who had an autistic daughter. “I’m happy to make people happy. So whenever I leave home, I just try do a good deed, “He said.
Shaq said the man buying the ring was a “little boy, a hardworking boy” and that the ring was safe. “I said,‘ You know what, tell your girlfriend I have it. Take care of her. ”And at first I didn’t want to take it,” Shaq said. He told the man not to worry, he does it all the time.
“I just try to make people smile,” he said.
