Sharon Osborne enters debate on ‘The Talk’ after defending Piers Morgan

Sharon Osborne entered an emotional debate Wednesday with her co-hosts on “The Talk”, defending her friend Piers Morgan – and herself – after accusing Meghan Markle of exaggerating allegations of racism in the British royal family.

“I liked everything [Morgan] dit? Did I agree with what he said? No, because that is his opinion. It’s not my opinion. But why have I supported a friend and co-worker of mine for so many years that everyone goes there, if you support him, you have to be racist because he is racist? ” said Osbourne, 68.

The tense and tearful exchange between Osbourne and her co-hosts came after she tweeted Tuesday that she was with Morgan, who left “Good Morning Britain” amid criticism that Markle had attacked following her interview. with Oprah Winfrey Sunday.

Morgan accused Markle of exaggerating allegations of racism in the royal family and said he did not believe he had been discouraged from seeking mental health treatment while suicidal.

“@Piersmorgan I’m with you. I’m by your side. People forget that you are paid for your opinion and that you are only telling your truth “, he wrote.

Co-presenter and author of “The Talk,” Elaine Marie Welteroth, said she understood why some people had attacked Osbourne after the post on social media.

“Right now we need people to stand up against anti-racism,” Welteroth said. “When we give passes or give space to people who say harmful and harmful things, what we’re doing is allowing it … And I think that’s how people react to that.”

Osbourne replied, “I feel like I’m putting myself in an electric chair because I have a friend that a lot of people think is racist, so it makes me racist.”

He then challenged the other hosts to tell him that “what he has uttered is racist.”

Sheryl Underwood responded that the “implication” of Morgan firing Markle was racist, rather than his own words.

“Why can’t he not like it? Why should he be racist? Osbourne said.
