After Osbourne tweeted a message of support for Morgan to “tell your truth,” The Talk co-host Sheryl Underwood asked Osbourne what he would say to those who saw his support for Morgan as racist.
The question sparked a tense discussion between the two, in which Osbourne denied being racist, calling him “a terrible and evil word ”.
On Friday, Maher asked Osbourne how he was doing almost a month after he left the show.
“I’m angry, I’m hurt,” she replied, adding that she’s “a fighter.”
Later, Maher said of Morgan, “He was called racist and he lost his job, and you were told he was racist and you lost your job. Am I okay? ”
“You got it right,” Osbourne replied. “That’s exactly how it was.”
“Who is the racist and why? That’s what I’m trying to figure out, ”Maher said.
“Me too,” Osbourne replied. “I have been called so many things in my life. I’m so used to being called names, but I won’t take a racist. “
After the incident last month, Osbourne claimed to have been “created” by their co-hosts when asked about Morgan, which CBS later denied in a statement. The network said an internal review “he found no evidence that CBS executives orchestrated the discussion nor had they blinded any of the hosts. ”
CBS announced late last month that Osbourne, the last of the original hosts of the daytime talk show, was leaving the show after executives “concluded that Sharon’s behavior toward her hosts during the March 10 episode did not fit our values for a respectful job. ”
On Friday, Osbourne also briefly commented on allegations by journalist Yashar Ali that the co-host used racist and homophobic insults when talking to their hosts. Osbourne publicist Howard Bragman then said the allegations were “lies” and the co-host added on Friday that the reports came from “disgruntled ladies”.
