Shawnee Co. launches a survey for individuals and phase 2 organizations interested in the vaccine

January 15, 2021 by NewsDesk

TOPEKA, Canada (WIBW) – Like other surrounding counties, the Shawnee County Department of Health (SCHD) has launched an online survey for those interested in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. Right now, it is specifically for those who have been identified as part of the Kansas Vaccination Plan – Phase 2. You can find more information about who is eligible for the specific phase vaccine at www.kansasvaccine.gov

Individuals or organizations who meet the above criteria and are interested in receiving a COVID-19 vaccine as part of Phase 2 are encouraged to complete the following survey / interest form: http://bit.ly/ShawneeCoVaccineSurvey Additional details for vaccination deadlines the schedule will be communicated as more details on the administration of phase 2 vaccines are published and additional doses of vaccine are made available.

“We encourage all members of the community to receive the COVID-19 vaccine when it is available to them,” said Craig Barnes, division director of the Shawnee County Department of Health. “We are working diligently to complete the vaccinations of health-related and other workers as part of Phase 1, so that we can move quickly to Phase 2 people when we receive this guidance. Although the first doses of vaccine are here, we must continue to watch and continue to wear masks, wash our hands and watch the distance.

The administration of SCHD vaccines to phase 1 individuals is still ongoing, as 1,788 vaccine doses have been administered as part of their collaboration with GraceMed. According to the current KDHE guidelines, we will complete the first phase before moving on to additional phases. The Modern COVID-19 vaccine requires two doses, separated by 28 days. Individuals should receive both doses to be considered fully vaccinated. Current and future scheduling is based on vaccine availability and may change based on vaccine supply.
