Should fully vaccinated people still be quarantined after exposure to COVID-19?

Since the vaccines began to roll out, thousands of viewers have sent in specific questions about the shots.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recently updated its guidelines as they learn more about new vaccines and new strains. CDC recommendations can evolve as quickly as new information becomes available.

According to the latest CDC guidelines, fully vaccinated people are not required to quarantine after exposure if they are all of the following criteriaL

  • They are completely vaccinated

  • At 3 months after receiving the last dose

  • He remained asymptomatic since exposure to COVID

On the surface, the three-month limit may seem strange, but the goal is to protect as many people as possible based on the imperfect information we have right now. As we learn more, the guidelines will be reviewed.

We don’t know exactly how long the vaccines will last (it can take well over three months), but only time will tell. At the moment, the orientation is three months.

Participants in the original studies that were used to obtain emergency use authorization are more than three months out of vaccination, so follow-up data are expected to be available soon on how long the immunity will last. .

One thing we do know is that vaccines prevent people from dying or getting seriously ill with COVID-19 and that is definitely worth it.
