Shredder’s Revenge reveals April O’Neil

Gamescon 2021 is up and running right now (pretty much for obvious reasons) and started with an Opening Night Live Show hosted by Geoff Keighley. As expected, the two-hour live stream revealed a lot of game announcements, but what stayed with me like a cheese in a pizza box involves Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredders Revenge.

Developed by Tribute Games and published by Dotemu (who blessed us Streets of Rage 4 last year), this upcoming TMNT game is a clear return of tricks to the beat-em-ups that preceded it, with retro-style graphics, vivid colors, and a tubular soundtrack. The game was announced in March of this year and, as expected, showed all four turtles in action.

I didn’t think there could be more turtle ads to make me more hype for this game, after all, I LIKED Streets of Rage 4, and games like Turtles in time continue to live without rent in my head.

But then?

This has happened:

April.

O’Neil.

Is.

Playable.

With a name like Shredder’s revenge hope a retro turtle game will save you april, with animation to “untie the rope” so you can go out and report the news. Instead, she joins the turtles, the bright yellow dress and all.

I can’t absolutely beat the fact that I can play a beat-em-up like April O’Neil, which comes with a murder game that fits her personality perfectly. I love that you can literally have a microphone drop moment that hurts. It’s great the combination of bad fighter moves and the use of their reporter tools as weapons.

I already needed this game, but now I do NEED this game!

Honestly, I can’t think of any TMNT game where April has to hurt (except maybe the Genesis version of it) street fighter-is that Tournament fighters 90’s game I didn’t know until my stepbrother’s Genesis picked up dust) The only memory I have of having been in a fist is his surprise at Pikachu when the Statue of Liberty was stolen by Krang dins Turtles in time. Being able to see her share a five-year-old movie with a turtle after kicking a serious shell fills me with so much joy.

I like.

He is not afraid to get tough with these standing soldiers, even curling up on a ball similar to Sonic the Hedgehog so that Leonardo can throw it at enemies.

I’m so happy about this that you have no idea.

This raises the obvious and most important question when thinking about what else this game can offer: will there be even more characters along the way?

I beg you to let me have Casey Jones by my side as I walk the streets with April. I know we already have five characters, but there’s always room for more.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge will be released in 2022.
