Sir David Attenborough celebrated Joe Biden’s victory in the US presidential election and stressed the importance of the United States in the fight against climate change.
Biden has pledged to rejoin the Paris climate deal on the first day of his presidency, after Donald Trump controversially withdrew Washington.
The international agreement aims to curb global warming.
Sir David, a passionate environmentalist, said “of course” that Biden’s election victory in November was good for the world, adding “how could he deny it?”

Sir David, a passionate environmentalist, said “of course” that Biden’s election victory in November was good for the world, adding “how could he deny it?”
Speaking to the Radio Times, the 94-year-old naturalist spoke about the US return to the climate change table.
He said: ‘It is of the utmost importance. The great power of the world and the great economic power of the world?
“Of course, it’s absolutely crucial that it’s part of all of these things, and if we want to find a solution with international agreements, America’s presence is unmatched.”
Sir David, who recently worked on the Netflix documentary A Life On Our Planet, is a fearless traveler and has made films around the world.
However, your flight days may be over. Asked if he would travel abroad again to film, he said “no, not much.”
Sir David added: “It is probably an old fact, but I found my heart sinking deeper and deeper into my boots every time I got on a plane and looked at that long line and thought: here for 24 hours month.
“It didn’t make me lift my heart with pleasure.”
