The Philadelphia 76ers made their way ahead of schedule by acquiring George Hill of the Oklahoma City Thunder in an effort to help bolster the security guard position. In the process, they moved a few big security men behind Joel Embiid and Dwight Howard.
The Sixers get the help they need with the addition of Hill, but now they need to focus their attention on the buying market as they try to add more depth to their roster. They moved a valuable piece to Tony Bradley in the deal to acquire Hill, so now President Daryl Morey will study the buying market to replace him.
“The buying market is usually a conversation about opportunities and functions,” Morey said. “We probably have more opportunities in this great place, so I hope the purchase would be bigger, if we make any. We need bigger ones.”
In Thursday’s win over the Los Angeles Lakers, the Sixers had to play with different lineups. They shot with Mike Scott in the center, while also using Tobias Harris and Ben Simmons in place 5 times.
“We feel good about Joel and Dwight,” Morey added. “The doctor, if he chooses, can put unique alignments on the floor with Ben, Tobias and Mike Scott, so we feel good where we are, but if a purchase comes in, he’s more likely to be big.”
Viouslybviamente, the deadline to negotiate has just ended and there is no rush to make a room right now, but Morey and CEO Elton Brand will have some options to consider when the time comes.
“Viously, obviously, that’s a big part of our job after the trade deadline,” Morey concluded. “It’s been a big part of our job, really right now, some of the players you can’t really get feedback on, because it’s the first few days. I feel pretty good that someone coaching Rivers thinks he’ll help us will be available, but it’s too early to give too many details, but right now we feel good about the buying market ”.
As for the Sixers on the field, they are 3-0 to begin their 6-game road trip and will now look to keep him up and running on Saturday against the Los Angeles Clippers.
