San Luis Obispo County reports the deaths of four more people who had COVID-19.
Public health officials say patients were between 70 and 100 years old.
San Luis Obispo County has had 140 deaths attributed to COVID-19.
The county also added 127 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the county’s total to 16,056 confirmed cases as of Jan. 20.
It is the lowest number of daily cases since the beginning of the year. At a news conference Wednesday afternoon, Dr. Penny Borenstein, SLO County Public Health Officer, said that while the county was beginning to see fewer new cases, they are still very high compared to with spring and summer.
He added that nearly a quarter of all cases in the county have happened in the past 14 days.
Health officials say 55 people are hospitalized. Another 2,398 people are recovering at home and health officials say 13,429 people have recovered.
San Luis Obispo County reports that 18 of the 38 licensed ICU beds and county staff are currently occupied. Seven of them are taken by COVID-19 patients.

The location of an additional 84 cases is being investigated and another nine are listed as “other,” which includes communities with fewer than five cases. The Department of Public Health does not identify these locations.
Currently, community COVID-19 testing sites are open to the public in San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Morro Bay, Grover Beach and Nipomo.
