SLO County reports 94 new cases of COVID-19, 4 more deaths

San Luis Obispo County added 94 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, adding the county total to 17,605 confirmed cases on Jan. 29.

It is the second day of this week that the daily total of cases was less than 100. On Monday, 96 new cases were reported.

Health officials say there are currently 46 people hospitalized. 1,949 more people are recovering at home and health officials say 15,411 people have recovered.

San Luis Obispo County reports that 19 of the 38 licensed ICU beds and county staff are currently occupied. Fourteen of them are taken by COVID-19 patients.

The county also added four new COVID-19-related deaths on Friday. So far there have been 168 deaths attributed to the virus in SLO County.

The location of an additional 61 cases is being investigated, and nine more are listed as “other,” which includes communities with fewer than five cases. The Department of Public Health does not identify these locations.

Currently, community COVID-19 testing sites are open to the public in San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Morro Bay, Grover Beach and Nipomo.
