Sly Cooper 5 rumors are gaining strength after the recent PlayStation announcement

In recent weeks, new rumors have begun to emerge suggesting that a new installment of the long PlayStation Sly Cooper franchise for PlayStation 5 could occur. At this time, these rumors have not been verified at any level, but a recent announcement posted by PlayStation has some fans believing there is potential Sly Cooper 5 it could definitely appear on letters based on an Easter egg shown in the ad.

To kick off Sony’s recent PlayStation Showcase event, a new ad was released (which you can see at the top of this page) featuring a series of callbacks to the popular PlayStation franchises of the past. While many of the more direct callbacks seen in the video were related to PS5 games, there were other surprises related to some series that we haven’t seen or heard in a while. One of those secrets that was accidentally included was related to Sly Cooper. While the reference to the popular PlayStation mascot wasn’t even shown for a full second in the video, you can clearly distinguish the iconic symbol depicting Sly and her fellow thieves from the ad.

While there’s a good chance PlayStation will include this reference to Sly Cooper just for fun, the fact that Sony is pointing to Sly amid these ongoing rumors has caused some fans to raise their eyebrows. And while this Sly callback means nothing, right now, franchise fans will always have hope in any form. After all, Sly hasn’t seen or heard from him since 2013 when Sly Cooper: Thieves in time was released on PS3. It may be desperate to expect a Sly resurgence based solely on this teaser, but for better or worse, this is the most obvious way PlayStation has publicly recognized the character in quite some time.

So what do you think of this situation? Should this reference to PlayStation’s Sly Cooper be simply an Easter egg or could it indicate that there is a new entry in development for PS5? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments or send me a message on Twitter @ MooreMan12.
