NEW YORK – Venezuelan infielder Rougned Odor was traded Tuesday from the Texas Rangers to the New York Yankees in exchange for Antonio Cabello and Josh Stowers, a pair of minor league gardeners.
Odor, 27, was not included in the Rangers’ inaugural roster and was assigned on April 1. He bats to the left, and the Yankees have a rights-laden lineup.
“Hopefully we can help him regain that talent we’ve seen him exhibit for sparks over the last few years,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said.
Smell is a second base, but he also exercised in the anteroom in the preseason.
He has guaranteed 1:00 pair of seasons, with salaries of $ 12 million each, as part of a 49.5 million contract for six years. The deal includes a 13.5 million team option for 2023, with a 3 million termination. Texas will disburse cash to the Yankees to cover much of what is owed to Odor.
Odor batted for 237 with 146 homers and 458 RBIs, in a seven-run race. His average was 167 with 10 homers and 30 towed in the abbreviated 2020 season.
Cabell, a 20-year-old Venezuelan, recorded an average of 251 with 19 doubles, nine triples, eight hits and 40 hits in the minors between 2018-19.
Stowers, 24, averages 268 with 39 doubles, 12 homers and 68 RBIs over two seasons in the minors.
