Some locations have already seen more than nine inches of snow this weekend, but there is still more on the way, as a weather system is expected to stick to the area for much of Sunday.
A winter storm warning will remain in effect for most of Sunday, with the warning expiring at 6 p.m.

More than 250 flights canceled at Chicago airports due to snowstorm
As snow continues to fall in the Chicago area, more than 250 flights to the city’s airports have been canceled on Sunday.
According to the Chicago Aviation Department, at least 190 flights have been canceled at O’Hare International Airport as of 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Flights that take off do so an average of 23 minutes late, according to the CDA.
At Midway, at least 70 flights have been canceled due to inclement weather, according to the department. Delays are less than 15 minutes.
The winter storm warning has been canceled in several western counties
A winter storm warning, which was initially supposed to last until 6 p.m., has been canceled and replaced by a winter weather warning in several counties west of the city of Chicago.
According to the National Weather Service, the warning has been canceled in Winnebago, Boone, Ogle, Lee, DeKalb and LaSalle counties.
A winter weather warning remains in place, as snow could still fall. Strong winds can also cause reduced visibility and slippery conditions due to snow blowing.
About 200 flights canceled at Chicago airports due to snowstorm
As snow continues to fall in the Chicago area, nearly 200 flights to the city’s airports have been canceled on Sunday.
According to the Chicago Aviation Department, at least 130 flights have been canceled at O’Hare International Airport as of 11:30 a.m. Sunday. Flights that take off are an average of 47 minutes late, according to the CDA.
In Midway, at least 61 flights have been canceled due to inclement weather, according to the department. Delays are less than 15 minutes.
Chicago officials remind residents and business owners to clean sidewalks in mid-storm
As a winter storm continues to throw snow in the Chicago area, city officials remind residents to be “good neighbors” in the midst of the storm.
According to city officials, more than 300 snow removal vehicles have been working since Saturday night to clean up city streets, and residents are also being asked to clean sidewalks in front of homes and businesses.
Snow updates are submitted from the National Meteorological Service
The National Weather Service has updated its snowfall totals across the area and some locations are approaching 10 inches of snow amid the ongoing winter storm.
At NWS offices in Romeoville, 9.5 inches of snow has been reported so far during the storm. This coincides with what a weather station reported in the Ravenswood area of Chicago, according to NWS figures.
Northwest Indiana is also being affected by the storm, with Demotte in Jasper County reporting 9.7 inches of snow. Crown Point, in Lake County, reported 8.5 inches of snow during the storm.

CTA trains delayed due to heavy snow
According to the Chicago traffic authority, trains on the Brown, Green and Orange lines are delayed due to heavy snowfall on Sunday:
More than 100 flights canceled at Chicago airports
As of 8:45 a.m. Sunday, 88 flights have been canceled at O’Hare, while another 54 have been canceled at Midway, according to the Chicago Aviation Department.
More flights can be canceled throughout the day, as snow is expected to continue until well into the afternoon.
As of 8 a.m., 6.8 inches of snow have fallen in O’Hare and another 7.4 inches in Midway, according to the National Weather Service.
Latest snowfall totals throughout the Chicago area
The National Weather Service continues to publish snowfall totals, and some locations already say on Sunday that they record more than nine inches of snow.
At Chicago Midway Airport, 7.4 inches of snow have fallen, while O’Hare Airport reported 6.8 inches at 8:30 p.m.
In Westchester, 9.3 inches of snow have been reported, while in New Lenox there is currently 9.1 inches of snow on the ground, and more is expected throughout Sunday.

Sunday forecast: snow, snow and more snow
According to the National Weather Service, snowfall in excess of 6 to 9 inches has already been reported in some places west and south of Chicago. At the NWS office in Romeoville, 9.5 inches of snow was recorded as of 7 a.m. Sunday and more is expected as Lake Michigan winds help feed additional totals to the northern portions from the NBC viewing area 5.
Snow will begin to end in the western suburbs in the early afternoon, with the city of Chicago and the surrounding suburbs immediately and you can see that the snow continues until well into the night, according to current forecast models.
In total, an additional 1 to 3 inches of snow can be expected at most sites, with possible heavier local totals, especially near Lake Michigan.
Temperatures will be set until mid-Sunday for 30 to 30 years.
The start of the work week will start dry, giving area residents plenty of time to clean up after the heavy snowfall over the weekend. Temperatures are expected to drop slightly, but on Thursday highs could rise to 40 lows as another weather system approaches the region.
