When Joe Biden issued his extensive vaccination warrant on Thursday, he made it clear he was “running out of patience” with people who have not yet rolled up their sleeves. He proposed fixing it by threatening the jobs of tens of millions of people unless they comply, either by directly firing federal employees or getting private sector employers to do the dirty work for him. But, as the New York Post noted yesterday, there was a significant exception to the rules that were not initially mentioned. U.S. Postal Service employees are apparently exempt from the mandate. They will also not be required to submit negative test results. Instead, they are simply “encouraged” to get vaccinated.
No rain, no sleet … no presidential proclamation.
President Biden on Thursday ordered COVID-19 vaccines for nearly 100 million U.S. workers, but more than 600,000 letter carriers and U.S. postal service administrative staff should not be fired.
A White House official confirmed the exemption to Washington Post postal journalist Jacob Bogage, adding that “we strongly encourage them to comply with these rules” anyway.
Let’s see, then, if we have it directly. The mandate will apply to all federal employees and private sector workers in companies with more than 100 employees. That part was pretty straightforward, I think.
We take this bite at a time. Are USPS workers federal workers? The answer seems to be an unequivocal “yes”.
Postal employees are federal employees. The word “civilian” is used to distinguish this federal service from military service.
So how about the size of the “company” they work for? I don’t think they have more than 100 employees, right?
Also known as US Mail, the U.S. Postal Service employed about 496,000 people in 2020. The U.S. Postal Service is an agency independent of the United States government.
How are these workers, many of whom visit the homes of hundreds of strangers six days a week, while others handle countless packages of unknown origin, somehow have a much lower risk than the rest of us that there is no need to be vaccinated? ? And how good is it to simply “encourage” unvaccinated postal workers when everyone is threatened with a pink leaf?
If you’re smelling the telltale signs of union involvement, you’re not alone. Most of these workers are represented by the American Postal Workers Union, which is affiliated with the AFL-CIO. And in July, the APWU issued a statement saying:While APWU leadership continues to encourage postal workers to get vaccinated voluntarily, it is not the role of the federal government to commission vaccines from the employees we represent.“.
And I’m sure that’s just a coincidence, but last year the APWU gave more than a million dollars to the candidates and almost all of them were destined for Democrats, including Joe Biden.
So, apparently, if you allocate enough money to the leadership of Democrats, the “health and safety of the nation” is no longer an issue. After all, unvaccinated postal workers couldn’t infect any other people or end up taking up space in the hospital’s ICU rooms, right? I guess they have some kind of magical protection that ensures this doesn’t happen.
These vaccination warrants are pure politics in action and here you have the proof in front of your eyes. What a pile of hot garbage.
